1. Purpose

1.1 The Zurich Centre for Creative Economies (ZCCE) at Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) operates the «ZHdK Startup Finder», a database that has been designed to provide information about startups, spin-offs and non-profit organisations belonging to the ZHdK ecosystem. 

1.2 This database serves to make information about startups, spin-offs and non-profit organisations founded by members of ZHdK as well as by alumnae and alumni publicly available. The database enables users to filter information by various criteria such as the founding date, legal form, discipline, industry/sector, category and various keywords.

1.3 Members of ZHdK include students, foundation course and continuing education students, assistants, teaching and research staff, professors and administrative-technical staff.

1.4 The contents of this public website can be viewed and retrieved via the internet.

2. Scope

2.1 To ensure a high degree of transparency and data quality, only companies and organisations with a publicly verifiable entry in a commercial register in Switzerland or abroad are listed in the database.

2.2 The following categories of companies and organisations are listed in the database:

  • Startup: A company or an organisation that has been established by ZHdK students, alumnae and alumni, teaching and research staff or professors and that has no direct relationship with a ZHdK degree programme or research project.
  • Spin-off: A company or an organisation that has been established based on intellectual property developed as part of a ZHdK degree programme or research project. At least one of the founders must be a current or former ZHdK student, a member of ZHdK’s teaching and research staff or a professor at ZHdK.
  • Non-profit organisation: A non-profit-making or charitable organisation that has been established either based on intellectual property developed as part of a ZHdK degree programme or research project or by ZHdK students, alumnae and alumni, teaching and research staff or professors.

3. Database Registration

3.1 The ZCCE is responsible for registering companies or organisations in the database in consultation with their founders. The ZCCE reserves the right to edit information prior to publication.

4. Deleting Database Entries

4.1 Companies or organisations may request that their entry be deleted from the database at any time by submitting a written request to the ZCCE.

5. ZHdK Warranties

5.1 ZHdK does not guarantee that the content published on this website is correct, complete and admissible.

5.2 ZHdK declines any responsibility for the unlawful use of the content of the website. ZHdK is only liable for the content and for the observance of the provisions set out here to the extent that it has knowledge of any unlawful content and can be held responsible for such content under applicable law.

5.3 ZHdK declines any liability for damages resulting from the unauthorised use or from other violations of these provisions.

5.4 The ZHdK Information Technology Centre (ITZ) is responsible for ensuring and maintaining the technical operation of the website.

6. Final Provisions

6.1 To the extent that no provisions are made in these Terms of Use, the provisions of the Terms of Use for IT Resources shall apply.

6.2 These Terms of Use shall come into force with immediate effect.
